LETHAL POETRY officially declares January 20th of every year hence forth THE NATIONAL OBAMA-RAMA! All hail the chief!!

ALSO, let it be known that when I stopped by Debonair to chat with Steve (the man) Harris, not only was he as kind as he is all the time, he wrote a donation check of $200 to Girls Rock Chicago - to ad to what we earned for them at our Night of Sight & Sound!!

January 12, 2009

OH MY SWEET BABY JESUS!!!! We had the BIGGEST... THE BEST...THE MOST AMAZING...Night of Sight & Sound in the history of our little company! For the first time we had representatives from the Non-Profit, Girls Rock Chicago! We also had people who came because they saw the rediculous pre-event press!!! This was a big success, our BIGGEST yeild for a non-profit yet!!!! As a (non-so-wise) man once said, 'MISSION ACCOMPLISHED' :-)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Although it's been just barely a year for the LP team officially. Unofficially we've been around since 2002 but...we incorporated this year & our first NIGHT OF SIGHT & SOUND was March 1, 2008. ohhhh the memories! ::weeps a little::

December 31, 2008

It's ON NOW! This is the first year that our whole collective feels so joyous about the year to come! We've got many things to look forward to: new events, events that have just hit thier stride, new resident artists (watch the website...and anouncement is coming...), publication partnerships, more artists to support and a band that we need to sky rocket this year! ...did I mention...IT'S ON! HAPPY NEW YEAR FRIENDS!

December 20, 2008

It's no secret that this company is lead by a fanatical trekkie (don't be surprised if you see her in uniform...ever!) so needless to say when we found out that Majel Roddenberry had passed away - Mojdeh's whole world stopped for a moment to pay tribute! Part of Moj's love for Trek stems form it's dedication to offer an example of equality between races & sexes, and unity between many communities (i.e. the orginal series is the reason why Whoopi Goldberg decided to become an actress. As she pointed out ,it was the first time she saw an African American actress play anything other than a maid - furthermore this woman had a position of leadership)!

December 10, 2008

DAMN BOYS! Those Second City cats had the whole room laughing at last nights 2nd WORDS THAT KILL event! And our featured poet, Gregory Picket was on fire last night too! It was a great line up over all! This event is getting some real momentum - and it's starting to get our blood to churn!

November 28, 2008

It seems the LP team is at it again. This time we're packing in MORE art MORE music MORE fun MORE community building!!!! All in just a couple of months. January & February will prove to be the most active moths LP has had yet...and we hope that's just the begining!

November 15, 2008

It's official, the hiatus of everyone's favorite Lethal Poetry event is OVER! NIGHT OF SIGHT & SOUND will ring in the new year on January 9th @ Debonair Social Club - this one's going to be OFF THE HOOK SUCKA(I know...the nineties are well over...but that phrase will never die!). Also, NIGHT OF SIGHT AND SOUND will come back for more action on February 28th @ Quennect 4!

Here's the new anthem for life ... "MORE ART! MORE MUSIC! MORE MORE MORE!" got that! Good!

November 10, 2008

We couldn't have dreamt a better outcome for ART ON TRACK!!! The exhibition went incredibly! We had nearly 1,000 paid patrons...and some sneaky art-bums that got onto the train without paying! But all-in-all we had an incredible outcome! We spotted both NBC & ABC news crews (hell yeah!) and we think they caught Salvo's fine CEO trying to defend the justice of a man that was pick-pocketed! A SUCESSFUL EVENING INDEED!

The best news was that most people had heard about the event via our Time Out Chicago article, the coverage we had in Red Eye's official CTA Blog, Chicago Tribune, and many spotted those of us that were a part of the grassroots promotions team...some were excited to tell us how many of thier friends they'd talked into coming to the event too!!

Looptopia...Lollapalooza...Artropolis...we may be young...but we are proud...and even better...we have AWESOME PRESS and an idea like no other! ART ON TRACK 2008...THAT'S A WRAP!
